MCASD La Jolla film showing to benefit two nonprofits

The Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego in La Jolla will show two films on Saturday at 7 p.m., with all proceeds benefitting two local nonprofit organizations, The Arch Academy and Tender Loving Canines Assistance Dogs. Both organizations provide services to those with autism spectrum disorder, according to a release.

Both films, “El Abuelo” and “With Me,” are produced by San Diego-based Drama House Productions and based on the experiences of autistic children. A question and answer session with local filmmakers and educators will follow the screening.

The event is open to the public, and tickets are a suggested donation of $12 each.

“El Abuelo” chronicles the journey of Nick, an autistic boy who does not speak and finds his voice with the help of El Abuelo, a Mexican laborer.

“With Me” is the story of Henry, an autistic boy, and Mully, a golden lab, and the friendship they discover while exploring the world together.
