La Jolla Playhouse names 2014-15 board officers, trustees

La Jolla Playhouse has announced a new slate of officers and members for the 2014-2015 Board of Trustees.

Joining the board include, Lynelle Lynch, owner and president of Bellus Academy, as board chair; Margret McBride, owner and president of Margret McBride Literary Agency, as vice chair; Kay Gurtin, vice president of marketing and human resources at Gurtin Fixed Income, as second vice chair; Michael Yeatts, president, deposit and payment solutions at US Bank, as treasurer; and Tim Scott, president of Pharmatek Laboratories, as secretary.

Two trustees have returned to the board: LaVonnya Fisher and Hanaa Hensersky. Julie Potiker has been designated an honorary trustee, while the late David Copley has been named an emeritus board member.

As president of Bellus Academy, Lynch has championed an elevated academic approach to beauty and wellness education for both students and educators, and has consistently produced graduates that are recognized as top professionals. She has held management positions with Saks Fifth Avenue and served as COO of the Greater San Diego Chamber of Commerce in 1997. She is a founding member of the new nonprofit, Beauty Changes Lives, which has raised $3 million in the first two years to fund scholarships for future professionals in the beauty and wellness industry. She has also conducted charity work for anti-domestic abuse and Cut-It-Out programs.
