In The Time of The Butterflies” is a true story of the four Mirabal sisters, known for their code name “butterflies,” who dared to challenge Generalissmo Rafael Trujillo who ruled the Dominican Republic in 1960. SDCBA Basketball League

Teams are now forming for the upcoming 2014 San Diego County Bar Association Basketball League. The league is open to both men and women and players of all levels are welcome. The games are played Monday and Wednesday nights beginning in February/March at San Diego High School. This is a great way to get some exercise and meet other professionals in the legal field. Hazardous Waste Management

Course topics include: solid waste management, hazardous waste generator requirements (federal, state and local), federal hazardous waste (RCRA), California only hazardous waste (non RCRA), and universal waste.

Public Workshops on Safeguarding California Plan

The plan updates the 2009 California Climate Adaptation Strategy. The meetings are an opportunity for the public to learn more about the plan and provide their ideas on how the state can best prepare for climate risks. Natural Resources agency staff will provide a presentation on development of the Safeguarding California Plan and the vision for the 2013 update. The workshop will also include an open house with an opportunity for attendees to interact with state agency staff to discuss the various chapters, climate risks, accomplishments, and strategies for moving forward. Following the open house there will be the opportunity for formal public input and comment. The public is welcome to attend the meetings at any time during the duration. The final plan is expected to be completed in spring 2014. This meeting will be webcast for those unable to attend in person. The broadcast can be accessed on the day of the workshop.

CPR & Construction First Aid

This course gives individuals the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide basic care for breathing, cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses, including how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED) for victims of sudden cardiac arrest, until advanced medical personnel arrive and take over. Registrants completing this class will receive CPR/First Aid Certification cards that are good for two years.
