Classic Cinema Wednesday Films Festival

Opening the series, the classic lawyer comedy film “Adam’s Rib” will screen on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. in the Auditorium of the New San Diego Central Library @ Joan Λ Irwin Jacobs Common. The Library’s “Classic Cinema” movie showcase highlights the best movies that are considered “classics.” Audience discussions will often follow the screenings. These events are FREE and open to the public.  April 2 — “Adam’s Rib” (1949) — With husband and wife lawyers Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn.  April 9 — “12 Angry Men” (1957) — With Henry Fonda, Lee J. Cobb, Martin Balsam, inside a tense jury trial.  April 16 —“Anatomy of a Murder” (1959) — With James Stewart and Lee Remick, directed by Otto Preminger.  April 23 — “Inherit the Wind” (1960) — With Spencer Tracy and Fredric March.

Complexities of Cultural Identity Exhibit

Richard A. Lou, "Stories On My Back" and James Luna, "I CON". Two artists examine the complexities of cultural identity in this thought-provoking exhibit.

Southern California/Baja Norte Juried Award Exhibition

Award presentations for the Artists and the 6th Palette Award honoring Renata Spiazzi. Music provided by Peter Rutman Blues & Jazz Band. Cocktail attire or ethinic dress.

49th Annual 2014 Women of Dedication Luncheon

Terry Cooper is the Chair of the annual event titled “ART of the HEART” for 2014, that will honor San Diego women chosen by the Auxiliary, who best exemplify their dedication of time, resources, talent and heart to help others in need. “ART of the HEART” will begin with a reception, silent auction featuring local artists, and boutiques. The Ballroom will open at noon for lunch. Carol Lebeau will emcee the event and Steve Hamann will serve as the auctioneer during the luncheon live auction. Bryan Verhoye, pianist, and the San Diego Master Chorale will provide music and their much loved renditions of songs that are created to fit each Honoree.
