Artist in Residence: Jarmo Mkila

The large-scale autobiographical paintings of Jarmo Makila reflect personal childhood memories and he mythology of his native Finland, Literary allusions convey dreamlike reminiscences of boyhood experiences.

Chasing the Song

– La Jolla Playhouse announces the cast and creative team for its Page To Stage workshop production of Chasing the Song, a jubilant new musical by the team behind the Tony Award-winning musical Memphis, featuring book and lyrics by Joe DiPietro, music and lyrics by David Bryan and directed by Playhouse Artistic Director Christopher Ashley. Kicking off the Playhouse’s 2014/15 season, with Chasing the Song.

Metaloci: Points of Transformation

"Metaloci: Points of Transformation" is an exhibition curated by the San Diego Mesa College Museum Studies Program at the Mission Valley Library. Featured artists: Jenny Armer, Teresa Chen, Scott Genglebach, Daniele Fratarcangeli, Joshua Krause, Miguel Milló, Reinhart Selvik, and Charity Vincent. “Metaloci: Points of Transformation” is a group exhibit that investigates the elusive nature of transformation through the use of glass, metal, paint, photography, found-objects, and more. Each of the artists in the show has his own unique methodology for creating art, but the one common denominator among them all is an ability to transform ideas into tangible images and objects that embody a process of transformation.

Elevator Constructor Apprentice

Applications must be filled out in perso durign the following sessions: Tuesday thru Friday: 12:30 to 5:30pm, Saturday: 8:30am to 3:30pm. A photo I.D. must be oresented during the application process. Applicants must be 18 years of age to apply, possess and provide an original copy of a H.S. Diploma. or H.S. Transcript or GED, pass an entrance exam and sit for an interview. Note: The exam will be administered at a later date.

Open-House & Book Fair

Classrooms will be open for browsing school projects and to meet teachers, staff, and parents. The public is invited to attend the Book Fair being held simultaneously. Horizon’s Elementary School campus serves students in grades Junior Kindergarten through 6th grade. NCCCO 2-Day Prep Course

This course is designed for someone with previous crane operating experience or looking to re-certify. This rate includes all study materials that are necessary for passing the core exam and all of the students specialty exams. The only additional fees you will incur are NCCO's fees, as they vary depending on the number of specialties the student is taking.

Intro to Lean with Kristin Hill of InsideOut Consulting

This presentation will introduce lean project delivery as an “operating system” based in principles and use of appropriate tools. Jazz Night San Diego

First annual “Jazz Night San Diego” will feature dinner, drinks and live performances from celebrated musicians throughout the county, with tickets available to the Charles McPherson Trio concert. The fundraising event will include simultaneous performances from 15 celebrated musicians at nine locations around San Diego. The general public will be able to purchase tickets to the open event, featuring the musical stylings of jazz great Charles McPherson on saxophone, Bob Boss on guitar and Marshall Hawkins on bass – all amidst colorful Mexican folk art, murals and lanterns. (The eight remaining events will take place in private homes and are by invitation only.)
