The exhibition will showcase some of California’s finest plein air painters. Plein air artists paint outdoors to capture the spontaneity and transience of light as it is reflected on the natural world. The exhibition includes paintings done in outdoor locations, as well as ones painted in studio environments after the artist has created smaller outdoor studies. An impressive collection by famed Artist and philanthropist Mackenzie Thorpe will be on exhibition and available for acquisition at Legends Gallery Fine Art of La Jolla. The exhibition marks the Artist’s return to La Jolla after many years, and this retrospective is a newly-curated presentation of his extraordinary works. The exhibition premiers on Saturday, July 26 with a Meet the Artist reception from 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm.
The Educator Workshop Program gathers teachers from across the nation to provide a glimpse into what it takes to become a Marine, what obstacles prospective Marines may face when choosing to join the armed services, education benefits and job opportunities available within the Marine Corps as
well as a chance to speak face to face with recruits, drill instructors and Marines from their local areas. This workshop is very hands-on and interactive for the educators, administrators and counselors that attend. Events include a female Marine question and answer panel, a leadership reaction obstacle course, breakfast with recruits currently in training, amphibious assault vehicle demonstrations, a chance to fire an M16-A4 service rifle and recruit training graduation. Week long workshop takes place aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Marine Corps Air Station Miramar and Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego.
