Justice for all — An issue for all

Each fall, San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program hosts the Justice for All Celebration to honor the accomplishments and contributions of the nonprofit organization’s volunteers and to underscore the need for access to civil legal services for all members of our community.

Celebrating pro bono attorneys

The American Bar Association declared Oct. 21 – 26, 2012 “National Pro Bono Week" throughout the United States. The week is designed to draw awareness to the overwhelming need for free legal services in our country and to celebrate the legal professionals who give of their time to provide these services.

Local programs offer expeditious legal help despite court cuts

Last week’s announcement that the San Diego Superior Court will soon be forced to implement massive, historic cuts sent shock waves throughout the community. The idea of even more reductions and less resources for our already overburdened and underfunded judicial system is hard to contemplate. For those of us in the nonprofit legal services field, the concern regarding how these cuts will impact the underserved and most disadvantaged in our community is particularly acute.
