Located in the heart of downtown on the Embarcadero, the San Diego Convention Center offers convenience to lodging, great city and water views and excellent facilities for trade shows and conventions. The center underwent a recent expansion that doubled the total amount of space to 2.6 million square feet.  Over 10 million guests have walked through the doors for over 3,000 events. Many visitors get their first look at San Diego because of an event at the Convention Center.

The fifteen-year old center has generated $227 million in tax revenues for the City of San Diego, and its economic impact on the region is estimated at over $10 billion. Local events like the International Auto Show, the Boat Show and Comic Com draw residents to the convention center and make it a community gathering place for San Diego.

The convention center is within easy walking distance of the 16-block Gaslamp Quarter and is also close to Petco Park--San Diego's brand new downtown baseball stadium. It has two ballrooms and the area under the sails offers a large open space with commanding city and water views. Unlike many big city convention centers, the San Diego Convention Center has landscaped terraces overlooking the bay for breaks and outdoor events.
