LANDMARKS | LA JOLLA COVE | Map It

La Jolla Cove is a charming beach tucked into the La Jolla area, a short walk from the commercial district. The cove has unusually clear water so it is a favorite spot for snorkelers and scuba diving. It is part of the San Diego La Jolla Underwater Park Ecological Reserve so fishing and taking marine life is not permitted.

The cove adjoins Scripps Park which offers a grassy area for picnics and games. There is no public parking lot for the cove, but street parking is available.

The Children's Pool, a small cove with a concrete barricade put in place to create a swimming area for children, has been taken over by the seals and sea lions. Swimming is no longer permitted here, but the seals and sea lions are entertaining to watch.

There are also walking and hiking trails on the cliffs above the beach.
