A visit to San Diego hardly seems complete without a visit to SeaWorld to see Shamu jump and all of the other fishy attractions. Opened in 1964, SeaWorld is fun for young and old alike with a number of live shows and interactive exhibits. It is possible to pet and feed the dolphins, watch them perform and even swim with them one-to-one.
The Budweiser horses are in residence and available for stroking as well as just viewing. Shamu's show is fun to watch and marvel at how these huge whales can be trained to perform. The splash zone is a welcome cooling on a hot summer day.
The park has added several new thrill rides lately and also has its own version of Cirque de Soleil. The landscaping in the park is always colorful and there are plenty of benches to sit and marvel at the colors. There are a number of special programs available as well such as beer making and up close viewing of the Shamu training.
