San Diego-North | Map It

The northern part of the City of San Diego includes a number of coastal neighborhoods that run the gamut between upscale La Jolla and the recreational areas of Mission Bay.  Other neighborhoods include Torrey Pines, Del Mar Heights, Carmel Valley, University City, Clairemont, Bay Ho and Bay Park.  As the city has built north, the newer neighborhoods have spread out along the hills and bluffs above the I-5 freeway where there used to be open land.

Mission Bay is a draw to residents and tourists alike who are interested in boating, walking, bike riding, fishing and other recreational activities.  Popular Sea World is a favorite destination and is in the process of being expanded.  Its tower is a landmark and the centerpiece for nightly fireworks during the summer. The Torrey Pines State Park Reserve offers spectacular coastal views and pristine beaches.
