Olivenhain, settled by German immigrants in 1884, cherishes its rural outlook and small town feel.  Located adjacent to Rancho Santa Fe, the area's agricultural industry yielded to a residential community in the 1950s.  The open fields and hillsides were subdivided into spacious lots that today hold large custom homes often with horse facilities.
