Ramona is a town of warmth and romance.
Early western culture can be experienced by visiting Verlaque House, the only western adobe home of French Provincial design still in existence. Verlaque House, site of the Guy B. Woodward Museum, is locate in a complex of historic buildings offering shops, exhibits, artifacts, and a research library about the local area.
Ramona has become a magnet for antique shops in the past few years. This phenonomen has caused many to call Ramona the Antique Capital of San Diego County.
Today's ranching community in Ramona has become focused on horses. The favorable, year round climate in Ramona provides an ideal setting for the thousands of privately owned horses in the valley. There is a multitude of equestrian related activities and riding trails available for local residents.
Ramona continues to be community oriented, bringing such events as the Rodeo in May, the Air Fair and the Air Attack Base Open House in June and the Country Fair days in August.
For wine-tasting, the Schwaesdall Winery produces classic European style red wines and traditional, California white wines. The winery is family owned and operated and wines are estate bottled and cellared.
