North Coast Repertory Theater has been putting on high-quality performances in an intimate theater setting for more than 30 years. The internationally acclaimed Belly Up has a long, storied history of hosting live music, and Rolling Stone magazine calls it one of the hottest clubs on the West Coast. Fiesta del Sol, the city’s annual two-day street and music festival held the first weekend of June, combines the sense of a small town gathering with a big city blast. Sponsored by the city’s Chamber of Commerce, the festival features arts and crafts booths, continuous live music, an international food court, beer garden and a kid’s area.

A small coastal town with a population of 13,154, it has easy access to public transportation and minimal traffic. Solana Beach straddles Interstate 5 and Highway 101 just north of Del Mar. This pedestrian, bike and dog-friendly town enjoys peak summer temperatures in the low 70s with daily highs rarely reaching 80. Winters are mild with average temperatures in the mid to high 50s.
