The newly formed San Diego Unified School District's Facilities Planning and Construction Division task force will meet for the first time Wednesday.
The task force was created to assist the Facilities Planning and Construction Division in assessing and shaping its business outreach and engagement efforts.
The 20-member task force will help identify historically disadvantaged businesses and individuals and connect them with various opportunities generated by San Diego Unified School District capital improvement projects.
The group comprises representatives from San Diego's contracting, construction, business and non-governmental organizations.
The district says the formation of the task force reinforces the Board of Education's commitment to engaging local, small and emerging businesses in district capital improvement projects and enabling a pathway for local labor to work on the Proposition S bond program.
