Construction Agenda: Commission looks to OK new medical center

There is no Thanksgiving hangover at municipalities this week, as most are slated to meet and provide updates on construction projects.

The Coronado Planning Commission is scheduled on Tuesday to hear a request for a minor special use permit and a coastal permit to open and operate a health care facility with an outpatient clinic and a medical drug research facility, including overnight care, at 131 Orange Ave.

Also Tuesday, the Carlsbad City Council is planning to authorize the advertisement of construction bids for improvements on Palomar Airport Road and Melrose Drive. The council will also look at amending the city’s charter to establish the Carlsbad Golf Lodging Business Improvement District, and appoint a three-member advisory board to the district.

At the Oceanside City Council on Wednesday, a $38,626 change order is expected to be approved to the contract with Select Electric Inc. for improvements to the city’s traffic signal communications system.

On Thursday, the San Diego Planning Commission is slated to hear a request for development permits for the construction of Scripps Park West Phase 2 in Mira Mesa. The plan calls for creating two lots on an existing 6.6-acre site for office and industrial space located at 9681 Via Excelencia.
