Sundt Construction Inc. employee-owners have given blood to the Red Cross and other blood donation services, resulting in 80 pints of blood being sent to local hospitals to be used for emergencies and medical procedures, Sundt Foundation announced Thursday.
This is the first time a company-wide blood drive has taken place in Sundt's construction offices in San Diego; Tempe/Phoenix and Tucson, Ariz.; Sacramento; and San Antonio and El Paso, Texas, according to the Sundt Foundation.
"Our first company-wide blood drive was a big success," Sundt Foundation President Tom Crohurst said. "We have held blood drives many times in individual offices, but never in one coordinated effort."
The Sundt Foundation, established in 1999 by Sundt Construction as a way for the employee-owners to give back to the communities where they work, distributes grants every quarter. The foundation has granted more than $5 million to hundreds of organizations, according to Sundt.
Nearly 75 percent of the money goes to disadvantaged children's issues, and 25 percent goes to community issues, according to the foundation.
