David C. Thompson hired as senior architect

San Diego-based architectural, interior design and planning firm AVRP Studios has hired David C. Thompson as a senior architect.

Prior to joining AVRP Studios, Thompson was a principal at Richard Bundy and David Thompson Architects Inc. from 1979 through the firm's closing in December 2012.

Thompson has helped design numerous projects including the adaptive re-use of the historic San Diego Athletic Club, the renovation of the Natural History Museum, and the Chapultepec Residence Hall at San Diego State University.

He was also the National American Institute of Architects/Naval Facilities Engineering Command award winner for his work on Slattery Hall at Naval Base Point Loma.

Thompson has previously been the president of the American Institute of Architects San Diego chapter and the San Diego Architectural Foundation.
