Construction starts on affordable housing complex in Vista

A groundbreaking ceremony was held Tuesday to begin construction of Affirmed Housing Group’s newest mixed-use affordable apartment community Paseo Pointe in Vista.

Paseo Pointe will be comprised of two, three-story buildings connected by a pedestrian bridge with 69 units: three studio, 21 one-bedroom, 24 two-bedroom and 21 three-bedroom homes.

The mixed-use development will also have amenities such as central management offices, a community room with a kitchen, laundry facilities, computer room, a library, outdoor courtyard with barbecues, green space and a tot lot. Ground-floor retail space will be set aside in the north building.

Paseo Pointe will serve households earning between 30-60 percent of San Diego County's area median income.

The affordable housing complex is designed by Studio E Architects. The general contractor is Wermers; the civil engineer is Kettner; and the landscape architect is Darsono Design Associates Inc.

“We are so pleased that Paseo Pointe will provide high-quality housing and retail in central Vista,” Mayor Judy Ritter said in a statement. “It will be a great asset not only to Paseo Pointe residents but also to our city.”
