ABC hires new director of community affairs

Katie Hansen has been named director of community affairs for the Associated Builders and Contractors San Diego Apprenticeship Training Trust.

Hansen will represent the training trust in this newly created position to cultivate, maintain and strengthen its relationships with business, civic and education leaders.

Hansen has more than a decade of direct experience implementing similar community relations initiatives in business and government as the manager of government affairs for Cricket Communications/Leap Wireless and as chief of staff to San Diego Councilman Kevin Faulconer.

Hansen has also represented the California Restaurant Association and Biocom, the biotechnology trade association.

“We are confident Katie can facilitate building stronger relationships with other organizations and community leaders who are working toward the same goal of developing more employment and economic opportunity for construction industry skilled professionals,” said Sherry Yarbrough, executive director of the ABC Apprenticeship Training Trust.

Hansen is a graduate of San Diego State University, and remains actively involved as a member of the executive committee of the SDSU Alumni Association board of directors.
