Five graduates from North County Trade Tech High School have been awarded scholarships by the Associated Builders and Contractors San Diego Apprenticeship Training Trust.
Michael Wilson and Christian Devasher each received $500 cash awards to supplement their education. Schyler Roberts, Jeremy Crabtree and Todd Nugent each received $250 toward post-secondary education in a vocational field.
Students had to submit an application and letter explaining why he or she wanted to enter the construction industry.
This is the third year the Associated Builders and Contractors San Diego Apprenticeship Training Trust has handed out scholarships.
Scholarship recipients become apprentices in one of the skilled construction trades. Students learn the technical side and the theory of their craft. All tuition costs are covered.
The new apprentices will begin their education at the ABC Apprenticeship Training Academy in September.
