Construction of Solana Ranch Elementary completed

Balfour Beatty Construction has completed construction of the $28 million Solana Ranch Elementary School for the Solana Beach School District.

The school has more than 68,000-square-feet of building space on an 11.6- acre lot.

The campus features a two-story, 60,143-square-foot classroom building; a one-story 5,233-square-foot multipurpose building; and a one-story 2,935-square-foot child development center preschool.

Solana Ranch Elementary also has several parking lots, a covered lunch shelter, playgrounds, ball fields, an amphitheater and a garden area.

The school incorporates sustainable features such as a ventilation system that allows heating and cooling through a displacement system, energy efficient lighting and a solar canopy system that is expected to provide a 60 percent offset in energy usage.

The campus was designed by Harley Ellis Devereaux.

The school will welcome students this fall.
