Space pioneer John Glenn will be in San Diego this weekend for a watery tribute.
He'll attend the christening of a Navy logistics ship bearing his name, according to U-T San Diego.
On Saturday, Glenn will visit General Dynamics' National Steel and Shipbuilding Company. His daughter, Lyn, will christen the 765-foot ship with a bottle of champagne.
The John Glenn is a Mobile Landing Platform ship -- a new type of amphibious staging and assault vessel.
Glenn, who's 92, was the first American astronaut to orbit Earth. In 1998 he also became the oldest person to fly in space when he joined a space shuttle mission at the age of 77.
