Rolling Readers seeking volunteers in North County

Related Special Reports

Rolling Readers, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping low-income, at-risk children enjoy reading, has announced it received funding to expand to North County and will start at Felicita Elementary School in Escondido.

The nonprofit seeks 10 or more volunteers to read to K-3 classrooms on a weekly basis.

“We're currently working with 5,800 students in San Diego County with almost 200 volunteers giving their time each week,” said Theresa Tolentino, program director for Rolling Readers, according to a release. “We’re looking forward to our expansion into the North County and inspiring at-risk students to love reading.”

The organization is active at 42 schools and three non-school sites, including two libraries in Chula Vista and the San Diego Center for Children.
