Epic Sciences hires new CFO

San Diego-based Epic Sciences, a privately held company that develops new diagnostics to improve the treatment and management of cancer, has appointed Michael Rodriguez as chief financial officer.

“Joining Epic Sciences gives me a chance to align my passion to fight cancer with an amazing team who has the focus and drive to bring important new cancer management tools to doctors and patients,” said Rodriguez. “Epic's mission to develop a simple blood test that can accurately detect circulating tumor cells to monitor and manage cancer treatments represents a significant advancement for oncology diagnostics.”

Rodriguez has more than 20 years of experience as a strategic financial and operational executive guiding creative and innovative companies.

Prior to joining Epic Sciences, Rodriguez served as chief operating officer of Clarient Diagnostic Services, a GE Healthcare molecular diagnostics and laboratory services business.

“Michael has an impressive track record as a cross-functional executive leader to create and serve fast growth, complex and high energy companies,” said Murali Prahalad, president and CEO of Epic Sciences. “Not only does he have strong financial and operational acumen in both private and public companies, he also has proven success in executing strategic initiatives, driving productive change and cultivating high-performance teams to increase results and profits.”
