Consumer Spending in U.S. Rose 0.4% in January, Incomes Up 0.3%

March 3 (Bloomberg) -- Consumer spending in the U.S. rose 0.4 percent in January after a 0.1 percent gain the prior month, Commerce Department figures showed today in Washington. The median forecast of 76 economists in a Bloomberg survey called for a 0.1 percent rise. Incomes advanced 0.3 percent.

Projections for spending in the Bloomberg survey ranged from a 0.1 percent drop to a gain of 0.5 percent. The December reading was previously reported as an increase of 0.4 percent.
