San Diego port commissioner and former city councilman Scott Peters has been appointed an alternate member to the California Coastal Commission, Gov. Schwarzenegger announced Thursday.
He previously served on the coastal commission as an appointee of the Assembly speaker from 2002-2005.
Peters, of La Jolla, has served on the Unified Port of San Diego Board of Port Commissioners since January 2009.
Previously, he served on the San Diego City Council from 2000-08, serving as president from 2006-08.
Peters was a partner at Peters and Varco from 1996-2000 and deputy county counsel IV for the San Diego county counsel’s office from 1991-1996. Prior to that, he was an associate for Baker and McKenzie from 1988-1991 and for Dorsey and Whitney from 1984-1988.
This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no salary.
