Anyone expecting something new from San Diego’s mayoral candidates with the beginning of the general campaign is going to be disappointed.

I hope, against the odds, that you guys don't continue to cover the Filner-DeMaio race in that blind but familiar "they're all the same" way. DeMaio is a deeply ideological robot with very limited experience in public governance, and his manipulative tendencies ought to be subjected to more skeptical coverage. Your readers are intelligent enough to take informed coverage.
