A week after losing a key vote in City Hall, San Diego shipbuilders said Wednesday they plan to launch at a city-wide referendum to overturn the Barrio Logan community plan update, which they said would impose costly restrictions on their suppliers.
I was a stakeholder and am a scientist. We need a City wide referendum because: 1) Neither the workers that lived in the rest of San Diego nor their unions were included in the individuals eligible to be stakeholders. 2) I demonstrated that the original assumption that the air pollution originated from the companies was false and that it really came from the diesel trucks on the freeways and at the border. 3) This type of air pollution has already been mitigated in Los Angeles. 4) We should save years of exposure to carcinogens and asthma causing agents by really solving the problem. 5) The City Staff behaved as being biased against industry. 6) The key votes by the stakeholders were public and thus they could have partially been the result of intimidation.
