Port of SD appoints new head auditor

The Port of San Diego has appointed Robert M. Monson as port auditor. He will report directly to the board of port commissioners.

Monson will oversee the Port’s financial and operational audit functions, including assuring compliance with statutory requirements and accounting standards.

Monson has been with the Port since 1993, when he was hired as a staff auditor. He has been serving as senior auditor for the past 12 years.

Monson is a certified internal auditor and certified fraud examiner. He has a business administration degree in financial accounting from National University.

“The board conducted a national search and considered a highly qualified pool of applicants before making this appointment,” said Ann Moore, chair of the board of port commissioners. “We were impressed by Bob’s integrity, competence and commitment. The board is confident that he will serve the Port well.”
