Envision, Horizon partner up on green projects

San Diego-based Envision Solar International Inc., a designer and maker of solar shaded parking products, teamed up with microgrid giant Horizon Energy Group to collaborate on different projects.

Maryville, Tenn.-based Horizon works with major utilities and campus owners who are Envision's primary target customers.

"Horizon gets the best solar-shaded parking products and Envision Solar gets the best project development, battery storage and microgrid partner in the industry. Win, Win," said Desmond Wheatley, CEO of Envision Solar.

Envision Solar and Horizon will shortly announce the first of a series of projects in which Horizon and their partners, Green Energy Corp. and McKim Creed Green, will be the lead project development and delivery team, while Envision Solar will be the exclusive provider of solar support structures.

"[Envision's] engineering, track record, and integration of battery storage solutions make them the right choice for our larger critical asset microgrid deployments," said Steve Pullins, CEO of Horizon Energy Group.

Annual project investments associated with microgrids are expected to top $2 billion by 2015.
