Janice, David Katz pledge $2M to UCSD Center for Pain Medicine

Local philanthropists Janice and David Katz have pledged $2 million from their estate to the Center for Pain Medicine at UC San Diego, according to a release.

Janice Katz is a former patient of the center after suffering debilitating pain from orthopedic issues. Today, thanks to the center's treatment, Janice Katz is playing golf, cooking and traveling the world.

The center, a division of UC San Diego School of Medicineís Department of Anesthesiology, offers a wide range of comprehensive treatment options. It integrates cutting-edge conventional therapies with complementary and alternative approaches for managing pain to promote healing, empower patients through education about their conditions, and restore maximum levels of function and quality of life for patients.
