The 662-room Harrah’s Rincon Casino and Resort is about to get bigger, as construction on a new hotel tower and convention center at the resort highlight an expansion project expected to begin Nov. 1.
Preliminary site work has already begun at the Valley Center casino, owned and operated by the Rincon Band of Luiseño Indians, and construction on the $150 million expansion is expected to last 17 months. The new hotel tower will add 403 rooms, while other plans include additional parking, an expansion of the pool venue, a new lobby lounge, a 23,000-square-foot convention and entertainment center and a Mexican restaurant.
The current pool garden will double in size and include a “Lazy River” feature, as well as a swim-up bar. The restaurant is scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2013.
Bo Mazzetti, chairman of the Rincon Band of Luiseño Indians, said in a news release that the expansion will produce an estimated 650 jobs during construction and 125 new hospitality jobs.
