A revised plan for the Lane Field development was unanimously approved by the California Coastal Commission in Redondo Beach Wednesday, according to published reports.
The revised plan calls for two hotels of 150 and 250 rooms respectively in a first phase of a development that is expected to ultimately include at least 800 rooms overall.
The hotel towers will be set back 150 feet from Harbor Drive to accommodate a 1.66-acre park and will have a thin profile to reduce view blockage.
The retail has also been reduced from 80,000 to 63,549 square feet to the north of Broadway between Pacific Highway and Harbor Drive.
The Lane Field development team includes Lankford & Associates, C.W. Clark, Inc., John Portman & Associates, and Hensel Phelps Construction.
Construction on the smaller hotels could commence by late summer with completion around the spring of 2015.
