On The Agenda: San Diego's sun shines on this week's events

It’s the last week of February and the forecast calls for a sunny one. Enjoy San Diego’s weather and get out in the community at events ranging from a breakfast on mergers and acquisitions to capital program updates.

Brette Simon will give a presentation on mergers and acquisitions at the Entrepreneurs’ Organization’s lunch-and-learn event on Monday. Simon advises public and private entities in mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, private equity and venture capital investments, and general corporate matters. Join Yossi Vardi at the Startup Circle Lunch on Monday. Vardi is engaged in founding and helping young Internet companies, and has invested in or helped build Answers.com, which went public; Gteko, which was sold to Microsoft; Airlink, which was sold to Sierra; and Tivella, which was sold to Cisco. The event runs from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Irwin M. Jacobs Qualcomm Hall on 5775 Morehouse Drive.

LEAD San Diego covers health care reform on Tuesday. The event will provide an update on the Affordable Care Act and how it will impact San Diego patients, doctors and hospitals. The event runs from 7:15 to 9 a.m. at the San Diego Medical Society on 5575 Ruffin Road, Suite 250.

Connect FrameWorks Workshops presents an "Introduction to Venture Capital" on Tuesday. Speakers will be Peter Townshend and Monique Ho from Perkins Coie LLP, and Ken Selzer from Finistere Ventures. They will provide an overview of venture capital at the event, which runs from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Sanford-Burnham Institute on 10905 Road to the Cure.

"Learn How to Enhance Current Client Relationships and Build New Ones" at the Lawyers Club of San Diego’s event on Tuesday. The panel will feature female attorneys who have increased their visibility via various avenues and have become business powerhouses through attorney-client communication and relationships. The event runs from noon to 1:15 p.m. at the offices of Sheppard Mullin on 12275 El Camino Real, Suite 200.

The Society of Marketing Professionals Services hosts a general contractor roundtable discussion on Wednesday. The roundtable will focus on current and future projects, how to become part of the team and an introduction to firms. The event runs from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Mission Valley DoubleTree Hotel on 7450 Hazard Center Drive.

Mark Cafferty, San Diego Regional Economic Development Corp. president and CEO, will discuss San Diego’s vulnerability to Texas job raiders at a breakfast event on Thursday. He will address Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s campaigns to lure California companies away by touting Texas' low-tax, lax regulatory environment. The forum starts at 7:30 a.m. at the NewSchool of Architecture & Design on 1249 F St.

The Construction Management Association of America’s Owners Night will address capital program updates on Thursday. The Otay Water District, San Diego County Water Authority, San Diego Unified School District and the Sweetwater Union High School District will all provide updates on their capital improvement projects. The event runs from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Mission Valley Marriott on 8757 Hotel Circle S.

The Poway Chamber of Commerce hosts a networking event on Thursday. Members of the business community are invited to this event, which is open to the public and runs from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Poway News Chieftain on 14023 Midland Road in Poway.

The San Diego Lawyer Chapter of the American Constitution Society presents its annual reception on Thursday. The event will feature the Hon. Goodwin Liu, associate justice of the Supreme Court of California. The reception runs from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the California Western School of Law on 350 Cedar St.

The North San Diego County Association of Realtors’ "Conversations 2013" is on Friday. The event will feature a morning of information and conversations along the theme of “How Will We Pay for our Future?” The event will be moderated by George Chamberlin, with keynote speaker Timothy Sullivan, president of Meyers LLC. Panelists include Robert Brown, economics professor at the California State University, San Marcos; Steven Frates, director of research at the Davenport Institute, School of Public Policy, Pepperdine University; Loren Polger, senior managing director and founder of Pathfinder Partners; Richard Rider, chairman for the San Diego Tax Fighters; and Borre Winckel, president and CEO of the Building Industry Association of San Diego County. The event runs from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the California Center for the Arts, Conference Center on 340 N. Escondido Blvd. in Escondido.
