San Diego Legal Secretaries 2009 Winner

Faith Ann McGee

Luce, Forward, Hamilton & Scripps LLP

Faith Ann McGee has worked in the legal field for more than 29 years. She started her legal career at the law firm of Wingert, Grebing working with the Hon. Michael B. Orfield, who was an associate with the firm at that time. Lisa Clements, a long-time secretary of Ed Chapin’s (who was a partner with the firm), provided excellent training and demonstrated the attributes of a top-notch legal secretary. She became McGee’s role model.

Later McGee worked for John R. Wingert and then moved into the Information Technology Department of the firm, where she developed and implemented a computer training program for all attorneys and staff.

In 1993, after realizing she missed litigation and being a legal secretary, McGee joined Chapin’s firm. During her employment at this firm, she had the pleasure of working with Nancy L. Vaughan in the field of medical malpractice defense -- an exciting, challenging and interesting position.

In 2003 she followed Chapin to Gordon & Rees, where she had the honor of serving as his secretary.

McGee is currently a legal secretary to Mary F. Gillick, a litigation partner in the Family Wealth & Exempt Organizations practice group in the San Diego office of Luce, Forward, Hamilton & Scripps. Her knowledge continues to grow while in this position.

She is a member of the San Diego Legal Secretaries Association; SDLSA’s Civil Litigation and Probate/Estate Planning Specialization Sections; Litigation Roundtable Committee, founded by Mary Alexander, PLS, CCLS; and the Association of Executive and Administrative Professionals.
