Debora Buljat

General Dynamics NASSCO

Debora Buljat is the Associate General Counsel for General Dynamics National Steel and Shipbuilding Company (NASSCO). She has served in that capacity since 2007. She provides advice and counsel to support business operations, including risk analysis on corporate policy, corporate governance, employment matters and general liability matters. She also has primary oversight for all litigation matters. Since November 2011, she has had primary legal oversight for a newly acquired General Dynamics business unit, NASSCO-Norfolk, and the more recently acquired NASSCO-Earl and NASSSCO-Mayport.

Prior to joining NASSCO, she primarily worked for two San Diego-based firms  — Paul, Plevin, Sullivan & Connaughton, and Klinedinst, PC — where she focused on labor and employment law.

Buljat is actively involved in the Association of Corporate Counsel, including serving on the board of the San Diego chapter. She has served as a faculty member for an in-house practice course affiliated with ACC that has been taught at the University of San Diego and Thomas Jefferson Law School.

Buljat is currently on the California Bar Foundation Board. Previously, she served as a director on the San Diego County Bar Foundation, a philanthropic organization that supports nonprofits which ensure access to justice, from 2008 to 2010.

Buljat earned her J.D. from the University of Denver School of Law in 1996, and her B.S. in industrial and labor relations from Cornell University in 1993.

A New York native, Buljat and her family, including her 12-year old son Preston, and her 10-year old daughter Malia, live in La Jolla.
