Major Cases
I recently assisted in the defense of a highly respected tax attorney, sued by a former client who contended that our client negotiated a tax settlement on behalf of a corporate entity that had a negative impact on him as an individual. The plaintiff sought damages in excess of $30 million. The arbitrator granted summary judgment in favor of our client. I also recently assisted in the successful defense of a malicious prosecution action brought against attorneys that had previously sued an apartment complex on behalf of a group of tenants. The trial court granted our anti-SLAPP motion on the ground that no favorable termination of the underlying claim had been achieved. The Fourth District Court of Appeal affirmed, and our clients were awarded in excess of $60,000 in attorneys’ fees and costs.
