1. Amira Pharmaceuticals Inc. in negotiation of a collaboration and license agreement with GlaxoSmithKline for worldwide development and commercialization of Amira proprietary compounds to treat respiratory and cardiovascular disease;
2. Tioga Pharmaceuticals Inc., in negotiation of the license to Ono Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd. of Japanese, Korean and Taiwanese rights to Tioga’s mid-stage clinical candidate; and
3. Nonprofit organization Critical Path Institute in the establishment of multiple cooperative research consortia among life sciences industry companies, research institutions and other nonprofit organizations, in collaboration with the FDA, the EMEA and other governmental agencies, to make development of medical products safer and faster.
Professional Background
I represent public and private life sciences and health care companies in a broad range of complex commercial transactions, including strategic alliances, research and development collaborations, technology licenses and acquisitions, supply, distribution and manufacturing agreements, and profit-sharing and co-promotion arrangements with pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies in the United States, Europe and Asia, as well as corporate finance matters. My clients also include nonprofit organizations engaged in the research and development of pharmaceutical products, diagnostics, other medical products, and research tools.
Professional Affiliations
I am a regular guest speaker on strategic partnering and corporate issues affecting life sciences companies at biotechnology industry conferences. I serve as a member of Cooley’s Hiring Committee. I am a member of the American Bar Association and San Diego County Bar Association.
