Labor & Employment
I have represented the employer in several wage and hour class action cases. Class certification has not been obtained by the plaintiff in any of the cases, and each has resulted in favorable outcomes for clients. I have guided numerous companies through layoffs that were implemented without litigation. I also guided clients through workplace violence, office romance disputes and investigations without incident.
I have worked as an employment lawyer in San Diego throughout my career. My practice currently is a counseling and litigation practice. I primarily assist clients regarding sophisticated workplace issues and act as an outside general counsel. I counsel employers regarding wage and hour law, discrimination, harassment and retaliation law, and all aspects of the employment relationship, including terminations, reductions in force, and workplace violence. I represent employers in wage and hour, wrongful termination and discrimination litigation. I represent a broad range of clients in many industries, with an emphasis in health care, financial institutions, food services and nonprofit organizations.
In addition, I am a regular presenter at employment seminars in southern California. I also conduct and oversee investigations and participate in mediations as an advocate and as a mediator.
I have served on a number of boards of directors, including San Diego Foundation for the Performing Arts, Legal Aid Society of San Diego, and San Diego Junior Theatre. I have also been an adjunct professor, teaching Employment Relations Law in the Human Resources Certificate Program at San Diego State University.
