California Practice Areas Elder Law, Estate Planning, Probate & Trust
I represent both private individuals and fiduciaries in conservatorship matters, guardianship matters, probate and trust cases. I have been involved in some high profile and controversial matters involving complex estates, sometimes involving elder abuse issues. I find that it is very rewarding to thwart the efforts of the numerous scam artists and abusers who prey upon the elderly and disabled.
I started my professional career as an elementary school teacher. Upon moving to California in 1971, I eventually became a paralegal and then attended USD while working for my now partner, B. James Brierton. I am a co-managing partner of Brierton, Jones & Jones and am proud of the fact that my firm has been listed in the Martindale-Hubbell Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers since its inception. My practice tends to involve many conservatorship matters, some controversial, and I have been successful in helping to negotiate and resolve a significant number of difficult family issues.
I am a member of the Trusts and Estates Section of the California Bar; I have been a past co-chair of the Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Section of the San Diego County Bar Association and remain an active and participating member; presently serve on the Bench/Bar Liaison Committee; member of the La Jolla Probate Section; member of the Estate Planning Council of San Diego; member of the Dana Unit of Rady Children’s Hospital Auxiliary; member of the Vista Hill Women’s Council on Mental Health.
I grew up near Atlanta, Georgia and I am the very proud mother of a wonderful son and daughter, Christopher and Ashley, and grandmother to Cameron and Cassia, grandchildren extraordinaire. I enjoy my family, my two beautiful cats, my garden and fabulous friends. Favorite things to do are antiquing, reading, shopping, cooking and some traveling, although I enjoy being at home, too.
