Adam serves as the senior vice president, general counsel and secretary of American Assets Trust, Inc. AAT is a full service, vertically integrated and self-administered REIT that owns, operates, acquires and develops high quality retail and office, multifamily and mixed-use properties in attractive, high-barrier-to-entry markets primarily in Southern California, Northern California, Hawaii and Oregon. AAT has been trading on the New York Stock Exchange since its successful IPO in January 2011. Prior to his current position with AAT, Adam held officer positions with an affiliated investment group in which his responsibilities included structuring and managing complex corporate transactions, including real estate acquisitions, dispositions and financings, as well as private equity investments. Prior to joining American Assets, Adam was an attorney with a national firm based in Dallas, Texas where he specialized in representing institutional lenders in structured financial transactions and real estate investment trusts in securities and debt issuances.
Adam was the lead (and sole) in-house counsel managing the roll-up and tax structuring of more than 100 partnership vehicles and 20+ class A commercial real estate assets into an UPREIT vehicle for purposes of listing on the New York Stock Exchange. AAT was successful in raising more than $600 million in its January 19, 2011 IPO. Since the IPO, Adam has quarterbacked a $129 million acquisition of “First & Main” in Portland, Oregon, a $84.5 million conduit financing and entering into contract on a $92 million portfolio acquisition in Portland, Oregon anticipated to close in July 2011.

Adam enjoys an active lifestyle, including running, snow skiing, water sports and golfing. He lives in Encinitas with his wife, Nikki (also a lawyer), and 2 year old son, Tobin (future PGA tour member).
