*Motorist suffers brain injury in vehicle incident: A trucking company failed to properly secure a wheel to a tractor trailer. The wheel separated from the trailer while traveling on Interstate 15. A motorist’s car struck the wheel, causing the motorist to jolt and hit his head on the ceiling of his car. The motorist suffered a traumatic brain injury and required neck surgery. The brain injury prevents him from returning to work as an aircraft mechanic and necessitates extensive rehabilitation therapies. After a 2 ½-week trial, the jury awarded roughly $12.2 million to the motorist and his wife.
*Commercial diver suffers brain injury: Property owners failed to maintain an aging structure. A commercial diver suffered life-altering brain injury when a portion of the structure failed. The settlement money (a confidential, multimillion dollar sum) will provide future medical care, financial support to recoup lost wages, and other life-long benefits for the client and his family.
Professional Background
Immediately after law school, Vosseller worked as an attorney on Yap, an island in the Western Pacific Ocean. He then moved to San Diego and worked for two prominent civil defense firms. In 2004, he “switched sides” and began representing injury victims and their families. He has obtained more than $50 million in judgments and settlements in various personal injury cases. Each victory enabled his clients to obtain necessary medical treatment, recover lost wages, participate in educational or professional retraining necessary to return to work, and make-up for other harms.
Professional Affiliations
Vosseller is active in the William Enright Inn of Court, the Consumer Attorneys of San Diego, and attorney mentorship programs. He previously served as a member of the board of directors of the Consumer Attorneys of San Diego and as co-chair of the Bar’s General Civil Litigation Section.
Personal Background
Vosseller was raised in Kansas by his father, a longtime elevator constructor. He is the first member of his extended family to graduate from college. He attributes his work ethic, sense of fairness, passion, and humor to his father. Outside of the office, he enjoys time with his family, coaching his kids’ sports teams, surfing and the outdoors.

Ensuring their plans are executed according to their wishes — and protecting them from unexpected pitfalls — is an important consideration for wealthy individuals. As such, a great deal of attention and press is paid to the importance of having a will or well-written trust document to ensure that your legacy is carried out. While this is a critical step, of equal importance is choosing the successor trustee — the person or entity that will carry out those wishes on your behalf.
Well-respected for their contributions to understanding of the law and to legal education, California Western School of Law associate deans William Aceves and Laura Padilla lend their considerable expertise and acumen to the day-to-day operations of San Diego’s oldest law school.
On many occasions and from many sources, including potential clients and patent attorneys, the phrase "stake in the ground" has been used to describe the purpose or goal of a provisional application. If one considers a provisional application to be a stake in the ground, to somehow capture an area of technology around a stake, all one will get is the stake. This is not a viable patenting strategy. The flaws of such strategy, previously significant for non-U.S. rights, now are magnified by virtue of the first to file provisions of the American Invents Act (AIA). The first-to-file provisions of the AIA will come into effect on March 16, 2013.

Good, honest and loyal employees are the greatest asset of any company. Unfortunately not all employees are great. Some employees are dishonest and others are vindictive. Not surprisingly, ex-employees who are discharged due to dishonesty are the most likely ones to post a defamatory blog about their former employer.
