I have represented policyholders in numerous cases where the court ruled in favor of the insured limiting application of the “Your Work” exclusion. (Maryland Cas. Co. v. Reeder (1990) 221 Cal.App.3d 961.) I also represented the policyholder in Janopaul + Block Companies, LLC v. Superior Court (2011) 200 Cal.App.4th 1239, where the court found a carrier’s delay in providing a defense affected the carrier’s rights under Civil Code § 2860. I have also served as lead trial counsel for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation on several matters, and successfully obtained a judgment of $32 million on behalf of the FDIC.
For more than three decades, my firm has represented an extensive portfolio of clients of all sizes, including Fortune 500 companies, corporations, real estate developers, municipalities, a world famous tourist attraction, a popular restaurant chain, governmental agencies, and small businesses.
My practice has focused primarily on commercial litigation, insurance coverage disputes arising out of insurance companies denying claims, bad faith litigation, contract and transactional services, insurance broker malpractice, banking industry litigation and employment law. I have been appointed as lead trial counsel in commercial and business litigation matters, and have been involved in multimillion dollar coverage disputes arising from directors and officers liability, employee dishonesty, employment practices, professional liability, environmental and pollution claims and commercial general liability for diverse business groups throughout the United States. I also have the honor of receiving the highest AV rating of 5.0 out of 5.0 from Martindale-Hubbell for ethics and legal ability.
I am a member of the American Bar Association, San Diego County Bar Association, San Diego Trial Lawyers Association, and a previous member of the Superior Court Rules Committee, Ethics Committee of San Diego County Bar Association and American Bar Association Environmental Task Force.
