Professional Background
Craig Garner is a corporate partner in the San Diego office of Latham & Watkins and local chair of the mergers and acquisitions practice group. His practice centers around corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, and general company representation in a broad range of industries.
In the corporate finance area, Garner represents issuers, venture capital providers and investment banks in public and private equity and debt offerings, restructurings and other financing transactions. He also represents public and private companies in a variety of merger and acquisition, joint venture and corporate partnering transactions. In addition, Garner serves as regular outside corporate and securities counsel for a number of local companies.
Recent representative transactions include: equity and debt offerings for BioMed Realty Trust, Excel Trust and Extra Space Storage raising more than $1 billion; the acquisition of Wexford Science & Technology by BioMed for more than $650 million; the defense of proxy contests for AeroVironment and LRAD Corp.; the acquisition of Exos by DJO; and the acquisition of NetNearU by ViaSat.
Professional Affiliations
Garner is an author of the Annual Meeting Handbook, which is published annually and distributed nationwide by RR Donnelley, and regularly lectures on related corporate and securities topics. He serves on the board of directors of the Boys & Girls Club of San Dieguito and the San Diego Regional Disaster Fund of the San Diego Foundation. In addition, Garner serves as co-chair of the M&A Practice Group of the Association of Corporate Counsel San Diego.

Garner was born and raised in San Diego and lives in North County with his wife and two young sons.
