Carl Kukkonen is a founding partner of Mintz Levin’s San Diego office. He is recognized as a leading intellectual property portfolio manager and provides strategic intellectual property counseling, including advice on patent infringement and validity, preparation and prosecution of patent applications, U.S. and international trademark counseling and prosecution, branding strategies, trademark and copyright infringement, domain name disputes and licensing. Kukkonen has drafted and prosecuted patents on behalf of entities ranging from individual inventors to large multinationals in diverse technical areas including:

While in law school, he served as a legal extern for the Hon. Randall R. Rader, United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, as well as for Joseph Biden in connection with the United States Senate Committee on the Judiciary. Kukkonen has been recognized on multiple occasions as a Top Attorney in San Diego by his peers. In addition, he serves the local technology community in his capacity as a board member for Connect and CleanTECH San Diego. Kukkonen was named on San Diego Metropolitan's 2009 "40 Under 40" list, which honors the region's exceptional business and civic leaders.
