Michelle Schill, an attorney entering her fourth year, is an associate in the San Diego office of Skane Wilcox LLP. Schill’s practice focuses on insurance defense work, including personal injury, products and professional liability and construction defect litigation.
Schill defends numerous individuals, businesses and public entities throughout Southern California. She is currently defending clients in several multimillion dollar cases and has successfully second-chaired two lengthy jury trials.
Recently, after seven weeks of trial, Schill obtained a defense verdict on behalf of her general contractor client in defending against a plaintiff-homeowner’s breach of contract and negligence case, in which the plaintiff was seeking in excess of $600,000 in damages. In the same action, Schill obtained a judgment against the plaintiff in excess of $22,000.
Additionally, Schill recently settled a multimillion dollar personal injury case for her general contractor client, well below the plaintiff’s settlement demand. The early settlement greatly benefitted her client, because it limited any potential for substantial exposure to her client.
Schill’s approach to litigation is well-balanced. For each of her cases, she is proactive and employs a creative, focused approach. She continues to reap rewards because she successfully resolves her cases early, and her assertiveness allows her to take the lead in preparing any case for trial, if necessary. Additionally, her balanced perspective allows her to build professional relationships and work productively with attorneys on both sides of the fence.
As a San Diego native, Schill draws on her wide network of colleagues and friends in the local community to create the best results custom tailored for her clients. She attended Valhalla High, graduated magna cum laude from San Diego State University in 2004, and graduated from California Western School of Law in 2008. Although Schill was admitted to the California Bar in 2008, she has worked in the legal community since 2004 in every position from file clerk (pre-law school) to handling attorney.
Schill is admitted to practice in California and the United States District Court, Central District of California. She is a member of the San Diego County Bar Association and San Diego Defense Lawyers. In her free time she enjoys baking, traveling and social networking.
