As an associate at Pettit Kohn Ingrassia & Lutz, Theobald represents individuals and companies across a variety of industries, advising them on matters relating to business litigation, employment practices, and corporate structure and financing. During his five years of practice, Theobald has represented clients ranging from individuals to Fortune 100 companies on complex legal issues in front of both state and federal courts and agencies. In 2010, he tried a case with Pettit Kohn shareholder Damian Dolin, obtaining a jury verdict of more than $2.2 million, which was the 58th largest verdict in California in 2010.
Theobald regularly speaks to business owners and human resources professionals on a wide variety of labor and employment issues, including the emerging issue of social media in the workplace. He also co-founded Pettit Kohn’s transactional services practice group, which provides businesses with the legal tools to start successfully and grow with confidence. While in law school, Theobald was published in the field of corporate governance. His experience in litigation, employment counseling and transactional services gives him a unique perspective on the concerns of business owners and executives.
In addition to his legal practice, Theobald volunteers his time to the fight against breast cancer. Since 2006, he has participated in the San Diego Susan G. Komen 3-Day Walk and, together with his team, has raised more than $50,000 for breast cancer research, treatment and awareness.
Theobald received his law degree from the University of San Diego School of Law in 2007 and his bachelor's degree in political science from the University of California, Davis in 2003. While at UC Davis, he was awarded the Chancellor’s Outstanding Senior Leadership Award for his service to the university.
Theobald lives in Encinitas with his wife, Michelle, who is an elementary school teacher. They are expecting their first child in March.
