Harold Trimmer is an attorney at Coughlan, Semmer, Fitch and Pott, where he concentrates his practice on professional liability, civil litigation, as well as white-collar criminal defense and related matters. During his time in practice, he has been actively involved in defending law and accounting firms in civil matters, and individuals in complex criminal matters. He has gained experience in all phases of litigation, from the initial investigation, to trial, post-trial and appeals. He has authored and argued appeals in the Fourth District Court of Appeal and submitted briefs to the Ninth Circuit.
In 2002, Trimmer graduated from Georgetown University’s Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service with of a Bachelor of Science in foreign service. In 2006, he received his J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law. During his undergraduate studies, he researched international trade policy at the Center for Strategic and International Studies and was a policy adviser on e-commerce issues at the United States Trade Representative. Prior to attending law school, he was the marketing director for a Santa Barbara Internet startup.
Trimmer originally joined Coughlan, Semmer & Lipman (Coughlan, Semmer, Fitch & Pott’s predecessor) as a law clerk in 2004. In 2007, after completing a clerkship at the San Diego County office of the public defender, he became an attorney at the firm. He is active in the San Diego Defense Lawyers and is an alumnus of the Louis M. Welsh Inn of Court. In his free time, he enjoys reading, cooking, and spending time with his wife, fellow Young Attorneys finalist Sasha Selfridge.
