Greg Del Gaizo is an attorney at Robbins Arroyo LLP, where he focuses his practice on shareholder rights litigation, particularly shareholder derivative actions and corporate merger and acquisition class actions. Del Gaizo also helps to lead the firm's new matters practice group, in which he identifies and investigates securities fraud and other corporate misconduct at public companies and helps initiate shareholder suits for clients.
Del Gaizo has helped prosecute shareholder litigation that recouped millions of dollars directly from fraudulent corporate officers, secured the implementation of extensive corporate governance reforms at public corporations, and led to precedent-setting decisions involving complex issues of shareholder rights, including one that set the standard for shareholder derivative actions brought under Nevada law.
In litigation on behalf of luxury homebuilder Toll Bros Inc. earlier this year, Del Gaizo helped achieve a $16.25 million settlement, one of the largest Brophy monetary recoveries ever. Remarkably, this recovery included a payment of $6.45 million directly from the individual defendants. Pfeiffer v. Toll, No. 4140-VCL, slip op. (Del. Ch. Mar. 15, 2013).
An active member of the legal community, Del Gaizo has co-authored several articles in well-known publications and recently spoke on the "Federalization of Fiduciary Duties" at Gonzaga University School of Law's symposium on shareholder rights. He is a member of the San Diego County Bar Association.
Del Gaizo earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of San Diego School of Law. While in law school, Del Gaizo was a research assistant for professor Frank Partnoy, the director of the Center on Corporate and Securities Law at the University of San Diego. Del Gaizo graduated cum laude from Providence College with a Bachelor of Arts in political science.
